Dave Chisnall: Chizzy Update

PDC darts professional Dave Chisnall is back on the even of three days of Pro Tour action. Read Chizzy’s latest piece ahead of next week’s trip to Milton Keynes.

Dave Chisnall: MK Bound for Pro Tour Success

I’m down a place in the Order of Merit thanks to a good couple of weeks for Krzysztof Ratajski, who was a bit unlucky to lose to Ross Smith in the semis of last week’s Euro Tour. I started well, getting through my opening round match with a 95 average and fancied my chances against Gezzy.

I was 3-2 up when the referee had to get involved because he was getting all sorts of stick out there. It still baffles me how people feel the need to try and make themselves the centre of attention and start whistling and shouting whilst the players are trying to throw. Huw Ware did a brilliant job of restoring order, and the ref is sometimes left with a difficult job of trying to keep the game going, whilst at the same time make it fair for both players.

I missed three darts to go 4-2 up and then it’s pretty comfortable but Gezzy takes out 56 and it’s basically level-pegging. When he has the throw at 4-4 he’s got the advantage needing just one break of throw and punished me. That’s the margins in this game – especially in a race to 6.

Dave Chisnall: Milton Keynes Bound

The Players Championship has been really good to me the last few years and I’m itching to have a good in one of the events. I get down to Milton Keynes on Sunday night ahead of three days of Pro Tour action and will be refreshed after a rare weekend at home. There’s no Euro Tour and no exhibitions so I’ve got no excuses this week.

My scoring remains good, it’s just silly doubles at key times that are stopping us from making proper runs deep into tournaments. The wins last month against Sneyd, Scutt, Schindler and King in the Players Championship last month is probably the best I’ve played all season and I thought I was a bit unlucky against Wesley Plaisier who played really well. If I bring my ‘A-Game’ I can hold my own against any one.

Dave Chisnall: Merseyside Derby

It was great to see Big Virgil bang the winner in at Everton last weekend – that goal could kick-start the end of the season and see us finish in the top four. You’ve got to give the manager time when you’re still in transition. We’ll get Champions League football, and start afresh in the summer. Three points this weekend at home to Palace – I’m going 3-0 Reds!
