Dave Chisnall: Back to Form, May 16th 2025
Bit better this week, eh? I said last week I was staying positive and I knew my game was coming through – although I did get some stick from some of the lads calling me Mr Motivator on the like lol! You have to keep that mindset, otherwise those bad runs will eat you alive. I’ve been disappointed with my results this year on tour, but they are very fair and you have to face up to it when you’ve not been playing.
I’ve been getting myself behind early, and in a race to six legs, you can’t be going a 3-1, 4-1 down early doors. I’ve been losing scrappy legs and making silly mistakes; such as missing the big number or sloppy doubles. I’d just kind of had enough and said to myself we were going to put it right this week – and we almost did.
Monday was great, and I thought I played really well – Tuesday was a different story but lets look at the positive bits first! I won some good games and played really well against the likes of Mike de Decker and Joe Cullen, whilst needing a little bit of luck in deciders against Gabriel Clemens and Danny Noppert. Danny was kicking himself at missing doubles to make the final, but I was quite pleased to take out 57-24 to advance. It’s those types of games that really hurt when you’re on the losing end.
Nine Darters Don’t Pay The Expenses
It’s always nice to hit a 9-Darter but the fuss over it always surprises me. Nine Darters don’t pay the bills – but winning six legs do! That’s my 15th on tour and I guess I’ve been about a bit now! I was more impressed by the 108.10 average against Darius Labanauskas instead. It wasn’t even my best performance of the season technically, as I averaged 110 against him in Rosmalen!
The fans always go bananas when something like that happens, and I do see all the messages online. Sorry I don’t respond to them, I’m a bit rubbish with social media. I got hacked by some folk in Australia trying to spam us with Crypto stuff, so the password has been changed again – leave me alone!
Dave Chisnall: Weekend Off
There’s no Euro Tour action this weekend so it’s a rare weekend home with the missus and the kids. I’ll make the most of being able to stay in my own bed for a week because it’s busy then for the rest of May and June. There’s back-to-back weeks and I’m fancying myself to leave a mark on one of them. It’s coming back, just a matter of when I hit top gear. Keep the faith, and hopefully we can add a trophy this summer.
All the best!
