Dave Chisnall: Huge April 2025 Update

Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall is back to review last week’s Pro Tour and Euro Tour action, and looks forward to yet further upcoming trips to Holland and Germany. Read his exclusive thoughts with kwiff below.

Dave Chisnall: April 2025 Update

There have been mixed results so far this season, with me struggling to get a really big run together. I should have beaten Mickey Mansell in Leicester midweek, when left with 67 to take the match. My hand slipped on the dart for 17, hitting single 3. And then, I was going for 14 and hit the treble. It wasn’t a great dart at double 11 and Mickey duly took out tops. I shouldn’t be putting myself in position of needing one dart in hand to see a leg out.

Dave Chisnall: Pro Tour

I lost to Ryan Meikle 6-4 on the other Pro Tour event, where I actually played quite well, and as did Ryan. In such a short format it’s so important to try and get an early lead otherwise you’re chasing your tail.

The same applies to the Euro  Tour at the weekend, where I lost 6-1 to Peter Wright despite not doing a lot wrong. Peter was sensational early doors and was mustard on his doubles. I missed five darts at a double, and he invariably took the leg out on the next chuck. Those kind of things really punish you. He took out a 141 when I was sitting pretty too – it’s all about timing in this game.

Dave Chisnall: Power of Positivity

It’s coming though, so you won’t see me hitting the panic button just yet. The annoying thing is, I’m playing really well at exhibitions and have had some real fun in places like Middlesbrough and Swansea where the crowds really get behind you. You may have seen the video of the crowd asking me to try and go for 180 when on 182 – to leave mad house. I hit the maximum and then took out Double 1 after Ritchie’s throw. The crowd loved it, and those type of things are all good fun.

Dave Chisnall: Upcoming Dates

I’ve had to cross the Pennines and step into enemy territory for another exhibition in Huddersfield this evening, where it’s a sell out at The John Smith’s Stadium. Going to all these towns and cities really puts into perspective just how popular darts is – there’s always a really good crowd and they all seem to love their arrers.

I fly to Rosmalen on Sunday for the Pro Tour Monday/Tuesday and back for a few days before heading to Munich next weekend for more Euro Tour action. Fingers crossed we can start to make some proper inroads this season! Wish us luck!
