Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall: Latest Update, January 2025

Dave Chisnall

Chizzy is back to reflection last week’s reaction to his kwiff blog discussing the controversial Premier League Darts picks, and discusses his further preparations for the upcoming Winmau World Masters at the end of the month.

Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall: January 17th 2025

It’s still quite bizarre to me how a few words here were able to cause such a storm in the teacup last week. I saw articles on Sky Sports, and Lad Bible and a few others reporting what I said to kwiff and taking the words out of context and twisting them.

I was asked a question about the selection for the Premier League and gave an honest answer, and don’t understand why people were so fussed. If you ask Nathan and Gezzy, they’ll probably both tell you they were a bit lucky to get in and similarly if you ask Mike de Decker and Damo (Heta) and they will tell you they think there were a bit unlucky to miss out. But that’s darts and life moves on – I’m sure

Chizzy New Year: Relaxed Start

It’s been nice to spend some time at home with the kids, given how often we’re away in the year. Whilst being in the Premier League would have been nice, it’s brutal from a schedule perspective. You have to be in whatever city it is the day before, and with Players Championship and Euro Tour events, you’re basically on the road Wednesday to Monday, home for two days and off again.

Practicing has been good, and the game is in good nick. I’m sure folk are bored of me saying it, but I felt good going into the Worlds and just ran into a player in good form on the day. I’ve seen the comments about my performances on TV – and they are right – they haven’t been good enough and I’m itching to put that right this season.

Chizzy: Liverpool FC

It’s been good to see The Reds doing well, despite the points dropped at Nottingham Forest midweek. I still think we’re going to win the league, although a lot of that will depend on keeping Jota fit up top.

I heard a rumour that we’ve had somebody offer £70m for Darwen Nunez up front. Take the money and I’ll drive him to the airport for myself!

Chizzy Fan Questions

Ask Chizzy – Chippy Tea: Morecambe or St Helens?

Both are great! I will say, it’s scandalous these days though. When I was a teenager, I’d get fish, chips, peas, gravy and a battered sausage for £2, whereas I got two chip butties and it was a tenner in the week. Thatcher’s Britain!

Ask Chizzy – Where would you like to see the PDC go next?

Dubai is great, so I wouldn’t mind us back there. When we played out there before though, it was outside and proper windy – it was really difficult to throw. Hopefully it goes indoors next time!

Ask Chizzy – Goals for 2025?

No goals! Just try and do my best, hopefully that involves winning a couple of tournaments along the way. Fingers crossed to a good year.
