India v South Africa: Thrilling T20 World Cup Final 2024

India v South Africa

The T20 World Cup final takes place in Barbados on Saturday, with the two unbeaten teams in the tournament battling it out  ahead of India v South Africa.

India v South Africa: High Stakes

The Men in Blue have been dominant throughout the tournament, winning all of their pool and Super 8 games before cruising past England in their semi-final. They skittled Jos Buttler’s side for 103 and also produced an easy success over Australia in their final Super 8 clash.

They will take on a South Africa side who have won all of their games at the tournament but were pushed hard by Nepal and the United States. The Proteas secured an impressive win over Afghanistan on a tough pitch in the last four, bowling them out for 56 and chasing that total with nine wickets to spare. Now the two form teams in the competition face off in the final.

India v South Africa: Blooming Bumrah

India’s bowling attack has been the dominant force in this year’s tournament and a key element to that has been the efforts of Jasprit Bumrah, who has been incredibly hard to score off. He has an economy of just 4.12 at this tournament while also being the fifth-highest wicket-taker, taking 13 scalps. The 30-year-old is averaging 8.15 runs per wicket and has been one of the stars of the show for the Men in Blue.

His figures of 3/7 were crucial in India’s comeback win over Pakistan which kickstarted their successful campaign and he can produce a similar performance in this final.  Side with Bumrah to be India’s top wicket-taker in this clash.

India v South Africa: Kohli’s struggles set to continue

The only major issue for India in this tournament has been the batting performances of their talisman Virat Kohli. He has made just 75 runs in the seven games he has played and cannot seem to replicate his form from the Indian Premier League.

Kohli has only made more than 24 runs once in the seven knocks he has played and looks unlikely to stop the rot in this final. The under of his run line makes plenty of appeal.

India v South Africa: Klass-en could tell

Heinrich Klaasen has failed to live up to his pre tournament expectations but he is still likely to be crucial to South Africa’s chances in this game. The 32-year-old has made knocks of 36 not out against the United States and 46 against Bangladesh, he also has a strong record against India’s spinners.

Klaasen averages 102 at a scoring rate of nine runs per over in T20Is against the Indian spinners Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. His batting in the middle overs will be crucial and he looks a solid value selection to be the Proteas’ top run scorer in this one.
