There is also plenty of domestic cricket ahead, with fans looking forward to the County Championship, T20 Blast, One-Day Cup and the Hundred. In this article, we round up all the details and the key cricket dates for your diary.

 

Cricket Season 2025: England Cricket

 

The international summer for the England men’s cricket team begins on May 22, when Brendon McCullum’s men take on Zimbabwe in a one-off Test at Trent Bridge. The West Indies then arrive in the UK for a white-ball tour, starting with a three-match one-day series.

 

The first 50-over game is at Edgbaston on May 29, before the teams’ head to Cardiff on June 1 and the final game is at the Oval on June 3. That’s followed by a three-match T20 series, starting at Chester-le-Street on June 6, before heading to Bristol two days later. The third and final match takes place at Southampton on June 10.

 

Cricket Season 2025: Indian Summer

 

The highlight of the English summer is next, as England host India in a five-match Test series. The opening Test takes place at Headingley, starting on June 20, before the two sides head to Edgbaston for the second Test on July 2.

 

The third Test will be played at Lord’s from July 10, before Old Trafford plays host for the fourth Test from July 23. The final match of the red-ball series starts on July 31, with the fifth Test taking place at the Kia Oval. South Africa arrive in England in the latter part of the summer, for six white-ball encounters.

 

England face the Proteas in three ODIs, starting at Headingley on September 2, with the second match at Lord’s on September 4. The series concludes at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton. September 10 is the date for the first T20 clash between the teams, taking place at Sophia Gardens, before heading to Old Trafford for the second T20 fixture on September 12.

 

Trent Bridge is the venue for the last match of the South Africa tour, with the third T20 match on September 14. The long summer for the England men’s cricket team concludes with a three-match ODI series in Ireland, taking place on September 17, 19 and 21.

Cricket Season 2025: Domestic Action

 

The County Championship starts the new domestic season, with the opening fixtures starting on Friday, April 4. First Division champions Surrey begin the defence of their title with an opening clash with Essex at Chelmsford. Glamorgan are the current One-Day Cup holders and they will kick off this year’s tournament on August 5, when they host Hampshire at Neath.

 

Gloucestershire lifted the T20 Blast Trophy on Finals Day in 2024, with the 2025 event due to start on May 29. This year’s Finals Day is on September 13. The Hundred begins another campaign on Tuesday, August 5, with 2024 champions Oval Invincibles taking on London Spirit in the first match.
