Dave Chisnall is in Milton Keynes for the Winmau Masters. Read his latest blog as Chizzy prepares to tackle World Number 2 and former PDC World Darts Champion Luke Humphries later this evening.
Dave Chisnall: Winmau Masters 2026
I am in Milton Keynes for the Winmau Masters, which started yesterday evening with something of a quiet crowd. It was a bit strange, and I hope they are a bit louder for when I play against Luke Humphries in my opening match this evening.
Winmau Masters: Cool Hand Luke
Weirdly, for a player of Luke’s class and obvious ability, I’ve got a good record against Luke and have beaten him in 3 Euro Tour Finals previously. I lost our biggest match when he beat me in the Quarter Finals of the 2024 World Darts Championship when struggling with the flu. He played well that day, and went onto win the big one after a serious purple patch having won The World Grand Prix and Grand Slam just before.
Take Luke (Littler) out of the equation and Cool Hand is clearly the best player in the sport at present, but you never know what will happen on the day. I’ve been practicing really well as of late, and have written last year off in my mind already.
Winmau Masters: Fresh Start
It’s a fresh start for me and I’m really looking forward to it. It was disappointing to go out in the manner I did at Ally Pally, after a season without a lot to scream about, but I’m refreshed once more and have already ear-marked the Pro Tour and Euro Tour events in the Feb and March calendar.
I got down here in plenty of time last night, got checked in and watched the darts. The two Welsh boys looked very good; Gezzy is a beast and Johnny (Clayton) is always the model of consistency. As I said, the crowd was pretty quiet but they should be lively tonight. I’m on at around 10pm ish, and straight after the Littler match, so they’ll be making a bit more noise no doubt.
As people who read this know, I don’t really look at schedules or anything so I’ll just be taking it one game at a time, so we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it but fingers crossed I’ll be hanging about to play tomorrow.
