Weekend Racing Preview: Thursday at Chelmsford
I am at Chelmsford for one ride on Thursday with Shafi (8.30) making his handicap debut for the James Tate yard. The race looks to revolve around the last time out winner Warning Symbol and I expect Oisin (Murphy) will look to keep things pretty straightforward on the odds-on favourite. That being said, my lad looks fairly uncomplicated and has a nice draw in stall 2. He disappointed last out at Southwell last time out but looks the type to bounce back accordingly.
Weekend Racing Preview: Friday at Southwell
There’s two rides at Southwell on Friday starting with Woodhay Whisper (5.10) dropping back in trip for the 5f Handicap. Nothing went right for her last time out at Wolverhampton, when she got it all wrong in the stalls and then was fighting a losing battle thereafter. She has enough speed to handle a fast five and is a tough and consistent mare.
Another that was a bit unlucky last time out is Diamondonthehill (5.45) who I rode to finish second last time out at Wolverhampton over today’s 7f trip. He was beaten a short head when his main market rival got first run, and I felt we were slightly hampered in the closing stages. From an unrevised mark, he has to go close and it’s now surely just a matter of time before he gets his head back in front.
Weekend Racing Preview: Saturday at Southwell
The 1m Novice Stakes looks a competitive renewal with last time out winners Menzies and See Blue both respected under a penalty. That being said, we haven’t given up hope on Adba (7.30) who ran too bad to be true last time out at Lingfield. She was expected to go well after a nice introduction on debut around Kempton. She faded quickly last time out but we haven’t lost faith with her and still hopefully has a nice future ahead of her.
