Thursday Horses to Follow: Exclusive Tips, July 25th 2024

Thursday Horse Racing Tips

It’s another bumper day of action with seven meetings in the UK and Ireland and we’ve picked out three Thursday Horses to Follow, including one on the Flat in Britain and a couple over jumps in Ireland. The selections include a talented Flat performer going for a first jumps win for a yard in flying form in recent weeks. Ascot’s King George meeting kicks-off tomorrow, but before then there’s some excellent racing to see us through until then.

Thursday Horses to Follow:  Daring Legend (3.05 Doncaster)

The owner group, the Horsewatchers, certainly know the time of day and they have another bright prospect in the form of Daring Legend who arrives bidding for a hat-trick here. The three-year-old got firmly back on track at Newbury in June before following up in an apprentice handicap at Yarmouth and, most notably, he escaped a penalty for that win due to the conditions of the race.

That leaves this progressive sort 6lb well in and that ought to make him hard to beat with the return to six furlongs unlikely to be an issue.

Thursday Horses to Follow: Sunchart (4.25 Wexford)

One name that caught the eye amongst the declarations for Thursday was the talented Flat performer Sunchart over jumps at Wexford in the evening. This son of Teofilo won a Listed race on the Flat at Naas at the start of the campaign, a first win since his maiden success and while he’s not beaten a rival in two outings since, they’ve both been tough races.

It’s his promising start to his hurdle career that makes him worth a shot here. The seven-year-old ran two cracking races over timber at the start of last year, finishing fourth of 22 in a Punchestown maiden hurdle before making the frame in Thurles maiden hurdle a month later. The form of the former contest looks very  solid and the Thurles run doesn’t look bad now either, with the talented Bialystock just in behind that day as well as other runners that have come out of that race and won subsequently.

Provided the going doesn’t get too quick, conditions will be fine for him and there’s a decent chance he could turn into a really useful dual purpose performer given that he’s rated 106 on the level right now. Trainer Andrew Slattery could hardly be arriving in better form with five winners from his last 12 runners and his runner here could take some stopping if he can build on last year’s efforts.

Thursday Horses to Follow: Tullyveery Lad (Wexford 6.05)

Later on the card in handicap company, one that looks very interesting is Tullyveery Lad. He made errors over fences last time but showed his well-being with a beginners’ success at Downpatrick on his penultimate start.

However, it’s his lower hurdle mark that makes him of interest in this contest. He’s 8lb lower than his chase mark and just 1lb above his last winning mark in this sphere, so he looks well weighted to get back on track and three miles on decent ground is exactly what he needs these days. He ought to outrun his odds for another yard in form.
