For Sunday’s Curragh Preview, we’ll look at the last three races, thus including the kwiff sponsored races and the Irish Cesarewitch.
4.20 – Friends Of The Curragh Irish Cesarewitch

Two darts to throw at this betting bonanza. Firstly, Lightupthedark warmed up for this with a second to the classy Gaoth Chuil at Killarney, last time out. Only a five year old, he looks tuned for this.
If Too Bossy For Us gets in as first reserve, I would be having a saver on him, also. Highly tried dual purpose horse.
4.55 – kwiff More Bang For Your Bet Nursery Handicap

A competitive nursery in which the weights could prove more important than the bare ratings.
Our Boy Bailey heads the handicap on 80 and is therefore asked to carry top weight, but his recent form leaves him with something to prove.
Romance is particularly interesting from a handicapping perspective. She is rated 76 but has won over this distance. She receives 4lbs, from Our Boy Bailey, so could be capable of making that weight allowance count.
Exchange Student is particularly interesting at the bottom of the weights given her course and distance experience.
5.30 — kwiff Supercharged Betting (Q.R.) Handicap

This is another race where the sheer size of the field makes the draw, traffic and positioning important. The race is for qualified riders, with the top weight set at 12st 2lb and a minimum of 10st 7lb.
Justenzia is the obvious starting point for me. She has a distance win on her CV and was an excellent second at Cork last time, beaten only 2¼ lengths in an 18-runner 1m4f handicap. That was off a mark of 68 and she now races from 71, but her recent performance suggests she can cope with the rise.
No More Porter has plenty of Curragh form and has won three times at the track. He was fifth at Punchestown only 12 days ago and has been kept busy, but he is a horse who tends to run well when getting the right pace and conditions. The return to the Curragh is a definite positive.
At a bigger price, Out On Friday is worth considering for the places. He is an experienced 10yo with plenty of staying ability and has won eight races in Ireland, although his recent form hasn’t been quite as strong as some of these.
Narrow vote goes to Sherekiya, the 3 year old filly of Dermot Weld’s, ridden by Finny Maguire. She’s not a straightforward filly but has a chance of getting her head in front, in a race of this nature.
