Saturday Racing Tips: Broughshane (Market Rasen 2.05)
Broughshane (2.05) is probably the one to be with. This is his first start for Mickey Bowen, having left Jonjo O’Neill, and he’d have a definite chance on the best of his form. He lost his way in the spring but they paid 23k for him at the sales in May, and it would appear it hasn’t taken them too long to work him out. Some blinkers go on, but he acts on soft ground, which come Saturday might be something of a necessity, and he has a solid chance here.
Saturday Racing Tips: D Day Arvalenreeva (Market Rasen 2.40)
D Day Arvalenreeva (2.40) is worth a look here. Her best form over hurdles has come on good ground, but she does seem to act with a bit of cut, and has impressed with the way she’s won her last three, showing improved form each time. That includes a very easy win over this C&D back in March, so she acts well on the track, and will be less inconvenienced by the ground than many of these. Can provide predominantly Flat trainer Kevin Phillapart de Foy with his first big jumps handicap winner.
Saturday Racing Tips: Horantzau D’Airy (Market Rasen 3.12)
Courtland won’t mind conditions and caught the eye at Cartmel on his reappearance, but the fancy prices have long gone, and at the current odds it’s Horantzau D’Airy (3.12) that interests me.
Ex-Willie Mullins, rated mid-140s for him, he’s been trained by Michael Keady for his last two starts and whilst the Grand National was clearly a step too far (although wasn’t disgraced) he ran a much better race at Uttoxeter in the valuable Clarke Chase, staying on well to grab second on the run-in. He’s got plenty of winning form on soft and heavy ground, and in steps Sara Bradstock to take over the training of him. He looks reasonably treated and under the prevailing conditions, should go well.
Saturday Racing Tips: Anthelia (Newbury 3.30) Each Way
For all that Havana Hurricane is the right favourite for the Super Sprint this year, Anthelia is the correct second favourite too and the gap between the pair in the market looks too big, making Anthelia look something of an each-way bet to nothing with four places on offer.
She’s done nothing but improve all season, and there was nothing wrong with her latest fifth in the Listed Empress Stakes at Newmarket, where she stayed on well having been given plenty to do. Rod Millman targets this race every year with one (winning it in 2019 with Betty’s Hope, and he’s had others placed at big prices) and Anthelia looks sure to go close here.
