Ross Burdon provides his latest stable update, with Gifts Differing set to run at Chelmsford on Thursday, while Dust Cover and Just King High also have potential engagements this week.
It’s looking like a slightly quieter week for our runners after a busy spell on the racecourse and at the sales.
We’ve had quite a few horses running over the past week or so, and the sales took up a fair bit of our time too.
However, we’ve still got a few potential runners to look forward to, including Gifts Differing at Chelmsford on Thursday.
Rossa Ryan to ride Gifts Differing at Chelmsford
Chelmsford returns on Monday evening, although we don’t have anything running there that night.
Our first runner of the week should be Gifts Differing on Thursday, and we’re really pleased to have booked Rossa Ryan for the ride.
Rossa is a top-class jockey, so it’s great to have him on board.
Gifts Differing has run a couple of good races for us, along with a couple of average ones, but we certainly think there’s more in the tank.
She worked quite well on Saturday, and now that she’s down into 0–55 company, we’d like to think she should be knocking on the door.
She’s got the ability to win one of these races, and hopefully Thursday will be another step in the right direction.

Dust Cover has Chelmsford and Kempton options
We also have Dust Cover entered over two miles at Chelmsford, although he’s not a definite runner.
He’s tried two miles before and arguably didn’t stay, but that was at Kempton, which has a deeper surface and is more of a galloping track.
Chelmsford is a sharper track with a quicker surface, so there’s a chance he might just get the trip there, particularly if it turns out to be a small field.
Dust Cover was bought back from the sales and has since been sold to new owners, Quest Thoroughbreds, who also own Insuspense with us.
We’ll see how things develop before making a decision about Chelmsford.
If he doesn’t run there this week, he has another possible option at Kempton in two weeks’ time, so there’s no need to rush into anything.
Just King High could head to Southwell on Saturday
Looking ahead to Saturday, Just King High could run at Southwell, where he has entries over six and seven furlongs.
He was very disappointing at Bath last week, but it was a messy race and things didn’t go his way.
He was drawn wide, got knocked about early on and essentially sulked after that. He never really got into the race.
He’s a frustrating horse because, on his day, he’s more than capable of winning one of these races.
We may try him over seven furlongs at Southwell, although nothing is definite just yet.
As ever with him, everything would need to fall into place, but hopefully we can get him back on track.
