Newbury Racing Tips: Challow Hurdle Tips 2025

There are more obvious ones than Ideal Des Bordes (1.50) here but he looked on the way back – both physically and in the race itself – at Sandown last time, and he might be able to cause a little upset today.

Newbury Racing Tips: Ideal des Bordes (1.50)

He clearly needed his first run of the year at Cheltenham and then heavy ground was of no use to him back at their November meeting, but he looked a happier horse with some headgear on at Sandown, coming to hold a chance three out before weakening out of things after two out. He wasn’t beaten that far at the death, and both this flatter track and better ground should be in his favour. He looks to be working his way back and is on a dangerous-looking mark if that’s the case.

Newbury Racing Tips: Peacenik (2:22)

Peacenik’s (2.22) problem last year was his hurdling technique which, if I’m being kind, was patchy at best, but he looked like he was getting his act together when scoring at Doncaster last time, his jumping much better than had been the case and if he can continue his progression then he might be hard to catch here.

It’s never been in doubt that he’s got a big engine, often trying to gallop his opponents into submission from the front, but that hurdling technique has held him back from showing his full potential. A 5lb rise looks fair given he beat the odds-on George’s Lad, the pair a mile clear of anything else, and for all this is clearly tougher, I take him to make all again.

Newbury Racing Tips: Dubai Destination (3.00)

The betting would suggest this is a penalty kick for No Drama This End, early quotes of 8-13 about right on balance given his form and dominance over his field but this isn’t a column that tips up odds-on pokes – you know where to go for that, you lovers of influencers.

However, if No Drama This End is the good thing the market says he is, then the 20-1 Dubai Destination (3.00), six lengths behind No Drama This End and staying on well in the closing stages, is likely to be in the frame with a similar effort here. Placed at Grade 2 level in bumpers, he looks to be going the right way with each start and he can reward each-way support here.

Newbury Racing Tips: Rightsotom (3:35)

Not the strongest of events to finish off the card with and many will stop at top weight Guard The Moon, a ready winner at Aintree last time and that form has been franked by the second home, Kdeux Saint Frey, since. However, the market has him well found, whereas I think there’s still a bit of juice in Rightsotom’s (3.35) price and he gets the vote today.

He’s been steadily finding his form this season and although only fourth of five at Doncaster last time, that was a hot little race for the money and he was only beaten a shade over four lengths, so it still rates a solid effort. The handicapper dropped him a pound for it when for my money he could have raised him a pound, so I think he’s still on the right side of the weights, and this step up in trip could see him take another step forward too.
