Monday Night Football: Crystal Palace v Man Utd Tips

Premier League Best Bets

Manchester United travel to Crystal Palace for this evening’s Monday Night Football with The Red Devils desperate for three points to keep their hopes of European football next season alive going into the final two games of the PL season.

The turbulent life of a Manchester United manager continues with reports today linking the current Red Devils’ boss with a move away from Old Trafford, and rumoured to be wanted by Bayern Munich to replace the outgoing Thomas Tutchel. The German boss led Chelsea to Champions League success, beating Manchester City during the famous COVID-era football, but got a raw deal in West London and was let go by his employers shortly thereafter.

Ironically, Tutchel has been linked with a return to the Premier League and a potential replacement for Ten Hag in the United hot seat. A swap deal, perhaps? Another potential return could be Jadon Sancho, with the United winger dazzling in his loan deal with former club Borussia Dortmund in last week’s Champions League semi-final with PSG. Sancho, still just 24 years old, still has two years left on his current deal and could prove a pivotal player in the Dutch manager’s long-term future at the club.

The Dutchman’s first job is to deliver European football to the club, with Manchester United currently sat eighth in the Premier League table after the recent upturns in fortune for both Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Monday Night Football: Crystal Palace v Man Utd

Crystal Palace 2.10

Draw 3.60

Manchester United 2.85

United lost points from winning positions against Burnley, Liverpool and Chelsea during the month of April and can not afford any slip-ups when visiting Crystal Palace on Monday evening. The Red Devils beleaguered defence continues to struggle with injuries, and have been dealt a further blow with Harry Maguire likely missing with a muscle injury.

Veteran centre-back Johnny Evans will be back, and likely partnered by the similar aging Casemiro however, it doesn’t bode well for a United defence that has struggled to deal with pace so far this season.

Magic Michael Tipped to Shine

All eyes are likely to be on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise who has been heavily linked with a move to the North-West at the end of the current campaign. Olise, who has a £60million release clause, could seal a potential dream move with a performance in front of an under-pressure Erik Ten Hag (and more importantly Team INEO) this evening.

Olise will likely prove a handful in the final third, but I think United can hold their own at the other end of the pitch. Marcus Rashford remains a doubt however, his absence isn’t necessarily a negative given the English striker’s form during the second half of the season.

The trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund remain The Red Devils’ strongest threat of goals, with the latter ending a run of eight without a goal in last months’ 4-1 defeat of Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
