Europa Conference League Final Top Tips – Olympiacos v Fiorentina

Champions League 2024/2025

Fiorentina will be determined to make amends for finishing runners-up in the Europa Conference League Final last season when they return to the final on Wednesday night to face Olympiacos.

La Viola head to the Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens on the back of an impressive unbeaten run in the competition and will be eager to put their 2023 final defeat at the hands of West Ham United in Prague behind them.

Fiorentina can make amends for Prague

Losing to a late Jarred Bowen goal in a 2-1 defeat to West Ham 12 months ago will still be a painful memory for many of these Fiorentina players and their passionate supporters going into Wednesday’s final in the Greek capital. La Viola have responded well to the defeat to David Moyes’ Hammers and are now unbeaten in their last 13 games in the Europa Conference League this season.

Overcoming the likes of Maccabi Haifa, Viktoria Plzen and Club Brugge in the knockout stages on the way to the final, Fiorentina have the quality in their ranks to beat Olympiacos in the 90 minutes in Athens. However, expect the Greek outfit to get on the scoresheet in their first-ever European final, as both teams have managed to find the back of the net in all of Fiorentina’s last eight games in all competitions.

El Kaabi can break the deadlock

While the first selection is backing Fiorentina to win this game in 90 minutes, the Serie A outfit might well have to battle back from going a goal down in Athens. La Viola have gone a goal down in four of their last five games but still managed to lose only one match in that spell.

Striker Ayoub El Kaabi is the danger man for Olympiacos having scored five goals over the two semi-final legs against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to take his club to this elusive first European final in their 99-year history. Scoring 10 goals in the Conference League already this season, the 30-year-old Morrocan is well-priced to open the scoring at Agia Sophia Stadium.

Back Beltran to strike

One man who can get his side back into the contest is Lucas Beltran, who is Fiorentina’s joint-top goalscorer in the Europa Conference League this season with four goals. The 23-year-old Argentine has impressed since making the move from River Plate to Florence last summer, also contributing six goals in his first campaign in Serie A.

As a penalty taker for Fiorentina, there’s even more reason why looking to Beltran in the anytime goalscorer market makes sense. Olympiacos have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine away games in all competitions and Beltran can strike against a defence that has clearly struggled on their travels in recent weeks. It should be a great night under the lights in Athens to cap-off a memorable season for both sides in Europe, regardless of the results.
