Outright Premier League Predictions

Manchester City had to work harder than ever to claim a sixth Premier League title in seven seasons in May, and the signs are that 2024/25 is going to be every bit as competitive.

Arsenal have twice run Pep Guardiola’s side close in the last two campaigns, while there’s a new dawn at Liverpool with title-winning chief Jurgen Klopp replaced by Arne Slot.

Manchester United will hope their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley is a sign of things to come while Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and a host of others will be hoping to stay in the race for Champions League places – and maybe even make an audacious challenge for the title.

The new campaign starts on August 16 when Manchester United take on Fulham at Old Trafford, the first match in what is sure to be a thrilling season.

Premier League Predictions: Arteta’s time has come to depose Pep

First in our Premier League predictions, the writing has been on the wall for two seasons – now back Mikel Arteta to make it third time lucky by guiding Arsenal to Premier League title glory at odds of 2.35.

Twenty years have passed since the Gunners last tasted title success, back in the days when Thierry Henry was banging in the goals for Arsene Wenger’s classy team.

Two decades later and Arsenal are a force again under Arteta. The north London side finished second, five points behind City two seasons ago. Last season, again runners-up, they had trimmed the deficit to two points.

Now comes their chance to overhaul the Manchester giants, a side who looked more vulnerable than for a while last term as plenty of opponents got to grips with the City style.

They failed to win only ten games – but so too did Arsenal. But the Gunners looked as though they were continuing to improve with more to come from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard while successful first seasons for Jorginho, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz hint at even better to come.

Premier League Predictions: Villa can continue to threaten the big boys

The race to finish in the Top 4 this season is an eight-team scrap, if the prices are your guide.

Next for our Premier League predictions, we’ll give Manchester City and Arsenal two of the spots, although there are questions over pretty much all of the other contenders.

Preferred over Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and others are Aston Villa, who are 3.50 for a Top 4 finish.

Unai Emery’s men have shown they have what it takes to finish fourth, having just pulled it off last season, and the Spaniard’s exemplary work in the transfer market suggests they are highly likely to be challengers again and look decent value.

Predictions: Fulham to challenge promoted sides for the drop

The three sides who were promoted from the Championship at the end of 2022-23 went straight back down in May.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that this season’s new intake – Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton – are fancied to return from whence they came immediately.

Better value, however, might be Fulham, who will sorely miss midfield anchorman Joao Palhinha and lack the firepower for anything other than a season of struggle. They look much better value at 4.90 to be relegated than a progressive side like Ipswich at 1.55.
