Top 5 Dazzling Premier League Transfers of 2024 Summer Transfer Window

Premier League Transfer Flops

The Premier League transfer window slammed shut on August 31st, marking the end of another crazy period for top flight transfers – we’ve put together a list of the Top 5 Premier League Transfers during this summer’s transfer window.

Premier League Transfers: Dominic Solanke  (£55 million)

Tottenham adopted a bold strategy of not replacing all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane last term and while that went relatively well as the Lilywhites finished fifth, they have spent the cash on a new centre forward this summer.

Dominic Solanke scored 19 goals in 38 games for Bournemouth last term and subsequently commanded a £55 million fee. Spurs fans will be hoping he can replicate last season’s form, but they will have to wait after he picked up an ankle injury on his debut and has been absent since.

The English forward is a top finisher and is adept at bringing others into play, which should work out well for the likes of Heung-Min Son, making this look a decent move, on paper at least.

Premier League Transfers: Leny Yoro (£52 million)

Manchester United conceded seven more Premier League goals than bottom-half Everton last term, so it was no surprise to see them spend upwards of £50 million on a centre-back this summer.  However, it was a surprise to see them take such a gamble on 18-year-old Leny Yoro, who only became a regular for Ligue 1 side Lille last term.

He is a defender with huge potential, though, and already looks composed on the ball. Likened to Rio Ferdinand by some, Red Devils fans will be hoping Yoro can have a similar impact to the United legend.  The French youngster is sidelined until November, but fans are already eagerly awaiting his debut after another shaky start to the season for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Premier League Transfers Pedro Neto (£51 million)

Having already seen captain Max Kilman leave for West Ham, Wolves were unwilling to let another star depart in the same window. However, Chelsea are not a club short of change and the Blues were happy to cough up the £51 million required for Pedro Neto.

The Portuguese winger has impressed early on at Stamford Bridge, looking a real threat on the wing and having already registered an assist.  Keeping him on the pitch will be Chelsea’s biggest job, as Neto has missed more Premier League matches than he has played over the last three seasons, making that level of investment a real risk for the Blues.

Premier League Transfers: Amadou Onana (£50 million)

The only signing on this list to fully hit the ground running is Amadou Onana, who has been a dominant force in Aston Villa’s midfield and has already chipped in with two goals for his new club.

The Belgian midfielder commanded a big transfer fee but has already gone a long way to repaying that and Villa fans will no longer be fearing a potential engine-room collapse that they may have envisaged following Douglas Luiz’s departure to Juventus.  Onana is still just 23 years old and could remain at Villa Park for numerous seasons.

Premier League Transfers – Joao Felix (£44 million)

Chelsea were, unsurprisingly, the biggest spenders in the Premier League over the summer, so it will shock nobody to see them as the only club to appear on this list twice.  The signing of Joao Felix raised some eyebrows following his disappointing loan spell with the Blues two seasons ago, which yielded just four goals in 16 matches, with the transfer also being lamented as it resulted in homegrown talent Conor Gallagher leaving the club.

He is inconsistent, but the Portuguese forward commanded a £120 million fee in 2019 for a reason and he still retains plenty of potential, suggesting that, if Enzo Maresca can get the best out of him, Felix could represent a bargain at just £44 million.
