Andy Schooler previews Saturday Night Football as Chelsea host London rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, with three betting selections covering player shots, goals and cards.

Chelsea v Tottenham preview

Two teams showing some encouraging signs go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in what looks the Premier League’s game of the weekend.

Chelsea have certainly picked up since the international break; it is no coincidence that the uptick has come alongside the return of Moises Caicedo, who has brought more solidity to a team which has the worst defensive record in the top half of the table.

Spurs also look to be improving. They notched their first win on Monday against Coventry, a result which came after they created some good chances in games against Manchester United and Aston Villa.

James Maddison’s first start of the season and Dejan Kulusevski’s comeback after long-term injury are two big boosts to their attack, and they come not long after another of their forward stars, Mohammed Kudus, returned to action.

Mohammed Kudus: 2+ shots

The latter features in my opening bet, and that’s Kudus to have 2+ shots.

This is something he’s managed in his last four appearances and all three starts since his return from injury.

Both managers have attack-minded approaches, so I’d expect a fairly open game here and that should play into the hands of Kudus, who loves to roam into that inside-right channel and get shots away.

Andy’s tip Kudus 2+ shots @ 1.9

Jordan Henderson: 2+ shots

While on the topic of shots, I’m also going to look to the home side, who have won their last six against Spurs and lost only one of the last 19 meetings.

Jordan Henderson scored a cracking free-kick the other week and, with Reece James back out injured once again, is clearly the man Chelsea will turn to for any set-pieces within shooting range.

He managed two and three shots against Everton and Bournemouth respectively and, at home to a side who have conceded more than 14 per game so far this season, he looks worth backing at 2.3 for 2+ shots.

Bet Builder: Over 2.5 goals and over 4.5 cards

Chelsea games have been littered with goals in 2026/27 and, even with their improvement defensively of late, it’s easy to see there being plenty of goals in this one.

Their front line of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers looks very threatening (11 league goals between them so far), while Spurs have shown enough in recent games to suggest they are capable of getting on the scoresheet. One clean sheet for Chelsea (at Everton) after 22 games without does not mean their issues are solved.

I’m therefore going to combine over 2.5 goals with over 4.5 cards for an odds-against Bet Builder.

This London derby has proved spicy in recent times, with six of the last seven games landing the over 4.5 cards bet. The make-ups have been: 7-6-10-5-1-9-5.

Referee Chris Kavanagh looks a good appointment for the bet, too.

He’s averaged 4.8 cards per game so far this season and is also in the top four for fouls awarded. OK, sample size is still pretty small at this stage of the campaign, but he was in the top six for bookings last season, so this isn’t some short-term trend.
