After landing two winners in last week’s Champions League preview, Andy Schooler returns with his betting tips for matchday three of the 2026/27 competition, including PSG v Barcelona, Bayern Munich v Arsenal, plus two more matches on Wednesday.

PSG v Barcelona betting preview (Tuesday, 8pm)

The tie of matchday three and, in all likelihood, the league phase itself. This could well be a dress rehearsal for June’s final in Madrid.

All the talk this season has been about Barca’s goalscoring exploits – it’s now 48 in 11 games in all competitions. However, there’s also been just one clean sheet in their last seven.

OK, you can afford to be less than watertight when the attack is ripping through opponents, but this is a massive step up in class for Barca, whose Champions League games so far have come against Galatasaray and Feyenoord, while domestically seven of their nine matches have been against sides currently in the bottom half.

Yes, maybe they’ll be able to dismantle the PSG defence too – and top scorer Raphinha is back to help them try – but the European champions have just won 4-2 at Manchester City and I’m sure they will be causing Barca plenty of problems going the other way.

It should be remembered that scoring goals has not been Barca’s problem in the past couple of seasons; keeping them out has.

There was the crazy semi-final with Inter Milan in 2025, while a look back to last season shows how they were found out against the elite sides – they exited two competitions, including this one, at the hands of Atletico Madrid, were beaten by Real Madrid in La Liga and, most significantly, lost 2-1 at home to PSG 12 months ago.

The summer signing of Rodri was designed to strengthen them in matches such as this and this will be the former Ballon d’Or winner’s first big test in a Barca shirt.

In short, this Barca side remains unproven against top teams and there is certainly a decent chance that the flaws which have cost them in recent times remain.

With this in mind, I think the match being priced up as a 50-50 contest is a bit disrespectful to the holders – back them at 2.25.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal betting preview (Wednesday, 8pm)

It would be wrong not to mention the other big game of the week, one which pits former Spurs striker Harry Kane against the Gunners again.

He’s bagged 15 goals in 22 games against Arsenal over the years and his remarkable goalscoring exploits for Bayern mean he has to be considered at 1.98 to score anytime here.

Arsenal’s defence is renowned though and they did beat Bayern 3-1 at the Emirates around this time last season, while the loss of Michael Olise to suspension is a big blow for the hosts – and Kane’s supply line.

The other option I considered here is Joshua Kimmich to assist. He already has four this season, including one in last week’s 3-3 draw away to Viking in Norway.

However, a price of 4.33 looks short enough in a game which seems unlikely to be as open as many we now see in the league phase.

Club Brugge v Lens betting preview (Wednesday, 8pm)

At just shy of evens, I like the Belgian hosts here.

They were impressive in the San Siro last week where they claimed a thrilling 4-3 victory. They were particularly good on the counter-attack and forward Nicolo Tresoldi helped himself to a hat-trick.

He now has four goals in two UCL games this season and is 1.98 to score again in this one, but preference is to simply back the hosts, who have been strong on home soil in this competition for some time now.

Last season they beat Salzburg and Rangers in qualifying, Monaco and Marseille in the competition proper and held both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Notably, they scored 3+ goals in all those matches.

The summer sale of Cristos Tzolis does not appear to have affected them too much and they look more than capable of outscoring Lens here.

The French side lost 2-0 at home to Sporting Lisbon last week, while they were fortunate on matchday one, scoring twice in injury time to beat 10-man Slavia Prague.

They’ve already lost three times in seven Ligue 1 matches this season and I expect them to taste defeat again on Wednesday.

Sporting Lisbon v LASK betting preview (Wednesday, 8pm)

Junior Yvan Dibango was an eyecatcher for LASK in their crazy 6-3 defeat to Liverpool last week.

The Cameroonian got into some great forward positions from his left-back role and delivered some dangerous balls into the box. He was duly rewarded with no fewer than three assists.

Going away to a side with maximum points so far may mean he’s asked to play a little more defensively. That said, there’s also a strong chance that boss Dietmar Kuhbauer goes to a back three here and if that’s the case Dibango will likely be the left wing-back with plenty of forward-thinking duties.

Sporting have conceded nine times in their first eight games in their domestic league – more than the other members of the top five – so they aren’t watertight.

Admittedly, this is a punt based mainly on what I witnessed last week but, on that evidence, Dibango looks worth a try at 7.5 for another assist.
