Dave Chisnall sits down with kwiff to discuss this weekend’s upcoming Pro Tour event in Leicester, a look at the week’s Premier League of Darts, and a preview of Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford for the North-West Derby with Manchester United.
It was a disappointing trip last week in Germany, as I fancied a good run in Munich, and ended up going out in the quarters to Jermaine (Wattimena) at the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday.
As it turned out, I don’t think I would have beaten Luke (Humphries) in the final given the level he was playing at this week. He demolished MvG in the final 8-1 with an average of 112 and is easily the best player in the world at the minute. He’s a great bloke too, really nice lad, and I’m really glad to see all the success he’s currently having.
Cool Hand’s World
He makes it look so easy up there, and the weird thing is for us darts players is getting on stage and chucking darts is the easy bit. I’ve always said I’m happy and relaxed on stage, but it’s the constant travel and the being out of a routine that throws you off.
Luke took a bit of stick at the start of the year for losing a few matches, but I don’t think people realise how busy his schedule was. He was the new World Champion and was off doing appearances on breakfast tele, going up to Leeds games and doing loads of interviews. The PDC will have loved all that type of thing, but not sure his manager will have!
He’s adapted so well and is now better than the level of form that saw him win The Grand Prix, The Grand Slam of The World Darts Championship. Unthinkable back in January!
Quiet Week
As for me, I’ve not picked a dart up since coming home yet. Like most Dads out there who go away on a work trip, when you get back home, you are thrown right back into it at home with the wife and kids!
I will be back on it again before trips to Leicester in the Pro Tour and another visit to Germany the week after, with Austria in between. Fair to say, the Passport is getting a pasting lately!
Come On You Reds
It will be a quiet weekend of practicing and my mood is probably going to depend on Sunday’s result at Old Trafford! I still can’t believe them (Manchester United) knocked us out of the cup last month. They equalised late on to make it 2-2 but we should have been 5-1 up! Fingers crossed we can make amends and inch closer to winning the league. It’s Jurgen’s last season – he has to go out in style, doesn’t he? I’m fancying Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 3.20 with kwiff.
Hopefully the Reds get the job done on Sunday, and I can do similar in Leicester next week. Fingers crossed! Have a good week all! Chizz x
