York Ebor Meeting 2026: Satellite of Love (2.25)
Satellite Of Love (2.25) might not be a massive price but the more I look at her, the more I like her chances. 2-2 so far, she has a pedigree that suggests slower ground, should it come, won’t be any issue at all, and despite greenness, she was still able to beat Agrippa a neck at Newbury last time. That’s form that’s working out well, the second winning a novice at Goodwood next time and fourth home Baddaddan scooting up at Nottingham last week. The time figure was good, he’s got stall 6 to work from, and Clive Cox usually has something up his sleeve for these autumn sales races. A strong each-way selection.
York Ebor Meeting 2026: Cerulean Bay (3.00)
As long as he wasn’t drawn out in the car park I had Cerulean Bay down as a very likely one for this and stall 9 will do fine. Second to the thrown-in and improving Bullet Point in this last year, he has paid for his mark with a series of consistent efforts since, including getting beaten a neck in the Hambleton Handicap here in May and a terrific second to Archivist off this mark at Goodwood in the Golden Mile.
He goes on pretty much all ground but good ground would be ideal, and a poor effort at Ascot last time is easily forgiven, coming as quickly as it did after Goodwood. Will get a strong pace to chase and as long as the gaps appear, really should be bang there at the finish.
York Ebor Meeting 2026: Vautingly (4.10)
Anything Joseph O’Brien runs this side of the Irish Sea is always worth a second look and maybe Vauntingly looks a bit of value at double-figures. She has the look of a strong stayer about her, one that was backed up when narrowly failing to pick up stablemate Nil Bua Gan Dua in a Listed contest at Gowran Park last month. She’s going the right way, won’t mind a bit of rain, and with a strong pace likely should get this run to suit. I like her a lot at the current prices.
York Ebor Meeting 2026: High Calibre (4.45)
Of those at bigger prices, take a look at High Calibre (4.45). He has to race form 2lb out of the handicap and again, a high draw might not be much help, but he has taken steps forward with each start and the handicapper might have slightly underestimated his Newmarket form, both he and winner Woodhay Wonder were making their handicap debuts and the pair pulled three lengths clear of two previous winners, in a good time as well. Given we know he stays further than today’s trip, I’d expect his pilot to make plenty of use of him; maybe he’ll fall short on class, but don’t overlook him.
York Ebor Meeting 2026: Caim (5.20)
Caim (5.20) looks the obvious one to begin with here, even more so if the rain has come. We didn’t see her at two until late on, but she was successful over 7½f (soft) at Beverley first time up and improved on that when second in Listed company (heavy) at Newbury on her final start of last year. We didn’t see her until May of this year when she chanced her arm on firm ground at Leicester, finishing last of our under a penalty; given the quick ground and layoff, that is a very easy run to forgive. Conditions here ought to suit her better and she’s open to a lot more improvement.
