ATP Best Bets: Monday Tennis Tips at The Generali Open, July 20th 2026

Tennis Tips

In his Monday ATP match bets column, our man Andy Schooler picks out three underdog tennis tips for the action at the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel.

Monday Tennis Tips at The Generali Open, July 20th 2026

These are two claycourt grinders and I do wonder how the quick altitude conditions of Kitzbuhel will affect the pair. Buse played just the one match in Gstaad last week, losing to eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, and it’s notable that he was well beaten by Kopriva when they met on a faster surface – grass – in Mallorca only last month.

Monday Tennis Tips: Vit Kopriva v Ignacio Buse

Of course, this will be different but it’s also worth remembering that Kopriva has twice beaten Buse (in three meetings) on the clay, posting set wins over 6-1 6-1 6-1 and 6-0 in those victories. He’s beaten Andrey Rublev and Luciano Rublev on clay this season and, with this being his last chance on the dirt at tour level this year, I think he’ll be fully motivated. I’m a tad surprised to see Kopriva at 2.3 here and will back him accordingly.

Monday Tennis Tips: Laslo Djere v Quentin Halys (Tue)

This match also looks like it may have been priced incorrectly with Djere short enough for me at 1.58. Yes, he’s twice been a semi-finalist in Kitzbuhel and came through qualifying in pretty convincing fashion.

But Halys represents a step up and the Frenchman has already bedded in nicely to the altitude having made the quarter-finals in Gstaad last week where he beat top seed Alexander Bublik. His big first serve is a major weapon in the thinner air and he was broken only twice in three matches at that Swiss event. Unsurprisingly, he boasts a decent tie-break record (59% in 2026) and I can see him edging out Djere in this one.

Monday Tennis Tips: Alex Molcan v Sebastian Ofner (Tue)

Home hope Ofner could be worth siding with in this contest. He’s a former Kitzbuhel semi-finalist and while he’s now into his 30s, he’s been a runner-up recently on clay at the Parma Challenger event. Opponent Molcan is the right favourite but the Slovak could be vulnerable at this altitude having been playing in much slower conditions in Umag as recently as Friday night.

Ofner has also won two of their three previous encounters so there could be some value in backing the Austrian at 2.0. In what is a strange part of the season – Wimbledon done and the road to the US Open yet to begin – Ofner should have plenty of motivation, playing on home soil, and that can be a key factor in weeks like this.
