Dave Chisnall is Gottingen bound in pursuit of adding to his impressive Euro Tour tally this weekend. Read Chizzy’s exclusive thoughts ahead of this weekend’s tournament, every week with kwiff.
Dave Chisnall: In Pursuit of Gottingen Glory
It was nice to get off the mark early doors last weekend, beating Scott Cambpell 10-5 in Round 4 on Friday. I’ve always talked about the beauty of the draw in tournaments like this and after getting through my opening game, what happens? I get drawn against the second best player in the world!
Dave Chisnall: Luck of the Draw
If you look at some of the draws I’ve had in previous years, with the likes of Gary Anderson, Michael Van Gerwen and Peter Wright early doors and you can add Cool Hand Luke after last week to that.
Luke (Humphries) is still the most underrated player in darts, despite being the second best player in the world, and punished my stupid mistakes accordingly. I don’t normally get that wound up but the darts on the floor are just something that can’t be explained.
I don’t know whether it’s something with the boards because it never happens in practice or at home, so whilst loads of people have messaged and say things like ‘change your darts’ – it’s not quite as simple as that.
Dave Chisnall: Glory in Gottingen
There’s been a bit of travel disruption with my flights cancelled in the week, and scrambling to get some replacements. I had to get a train down to London yesterday and fly to Frankfurt. It’s a bit of a pain in the backside but it’s proper first world problems and given what’s happening elsewhere right now I’ve no right to complain.
So we’ve arrived! And I face Jeffrey De Zwaan in the first round here, and still full of confidence despite an argument with the board last weekend in Minehead. A few people have asked what I said but I honestly can’t remember – you got lost in the moment sometimes and I was just a bit frustrated.
Dave Chisnall: Trust the Process
That doesn’t take from the fact I’ve been practicing well and feeling good. I’ve shifted a bit of timber and hopefully can continue the form I’ve shown on the Pro Tour. The Euro T our has been good to me the last few hours, Gottingen in particular, so hopefully that can be replicated in Germany again this weekend. It’s all there, it’s just about getting it on that stage under the bright lights. It will come – keep the faith!
