Dave Chisnall: All Guns Blazing Towards World Darts Championship 2026

Dave Chisnall: World Darts Championship 2026

Well, the fun starts now, doesn’t it? The irony being from this time last year, was that my game was in much better nick, I’d won a lot more prize money, more tournament and then fall at the first hurdle in a sudden death leg to Ricky Evans. It’s a blessing and a curse I suppose to be involved in one of the supposedly best ever matches at Ally Pally – it’s only worth remembering if you win!

The crowd were really behind Ricky 12 months ago and I imagine they’ll be cheering just as much for Fallon (Sherrock) before Thursday’s game. Fallon was nicknamed ‘Queen of the Palace’ after becoming the first woman to win during the men’s world at Ally Pally and is a very, very good player. It isn’t lost on me how good she is, and I won’t be taking her lightly. It’s panto season, but I don’t want to be playing the panto villain – I’ll leave that to the likes of Gezzy lol!

I watched a bit of action last night and it’s good to see some things remain constant at Alexandra Palace = Georgy Noble’s class calls of 180 and the famous wasp buzzing about the place! Luke (Littler) started well and it’s amazing to be how an 18 year old can be so calm and composed entering the World Championships as defending Champion and odds-on favourite.

Dave Chisnall: Ally Pally Memories

I’ve actually got a good record here (at Alexandra Palace) and was very close to going all the way when there was no fans here a few years ago. I ran into a peak Gary Anderson that day, having whitewashed Michael Van Gerwen in the Quarters. I know people will say I’m making excuses but in 2024 I barely made it out of bed before playing Luke Humphries. I had some of the worst flu I think I’ve ever had. The thing is, having forfeited the year prior due to COVID and being sent home, I couldn’t let him have back-to-back walkovers!

All jokes about the fans and what not, it’s a great arena and I love playing there. I like the noise, I like the bedlam out there. It’s a great place to play. It was similar when in France this past weekend for a great weekend of exhibitions. The fans were utterly brilliant, and loved their darts. It was great fun and I’d love to go back again next year.

Dave Chisnall: Mo Salah = Big Baby

As bad as a season it’s been for me, it’s been even worse for Liverpool FC, and it didn’t help by Mo Salah spitting his dummy out midweek. He’s been a legend for the club since arriving in 2017 and has won plenty of trophies, but no player is bigger than the team. The weird thing is, he’s been so poor this year so I’ve no idea why he’s surprised he’s got a bit of flak and been dropped. Fingers crossed he comes back from the African Cup of Nations with a bit of perspective, apologies and comes back to the form that saw him lead us to the Title last season.
