Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall looks towards next week’s Winmau Masters, and a trip to the North-East for exhibition success in Middlesbrough.

It’s bloody windy up in Middlesbrough! I’m up for two night’s of exhibitions, and can safely say I did the business on Night 1 to be Boro Champion! Hopefully it’s not the only thing I end up winning this year, but the game seems in good nick and as usual there’s some decent scoring around that Treble 20.
The Thursday night I beat Ritchie Edhouse, Ritchie Burnett and Callum Rydz to polish off a good night’s work and will be bidding to follow-up this evening. There’s a few others involved, including James Wade and some other lads – it should be a good do.
Chizzy New Year: Practice Board
As good as putting the hours in on the practice board is at home, there’s no substitute for playing in front of others, and the pressure of having to hit a double in front of an audience. I like my own setup and all that, but I feel my game is probably sharper for these types of exhibitions.
I was supposed to be down at Millwall for a couple of days, but that’s been cancelled now. My only other exhibition is in Copenhagen now on February 8th, which should be a nice trip. The Scandis always love their darts, and you’re guaranteed a great reception over there.
Chizzy: 2025 Goals
I was asked last week about my goals for 2025 and it has been ‘to win a major’ for the last 5 years so I’m just not bothering anymore, as I must be jinxing them! The most important thing is to stay in the top 16 of the World, because that gets you in that big tournaments and keeps you in there with a chance.
Top 16 is important, but you’d want some breathing space so I’ll change that to Top 10 in the world. I took home a lot of prize money in 2023, so there’s a lot of pressure on to perform this year. I think I took nearly a quarter of a million on floor tournaments alone – so there’s a lot on the line. The flip side of that is, I haven’t done well on TV the last two seasons, so if I can improve in some of the bigger events, I’ll keep my place in the rankings. I need some coin!
